The Sanctuary of the Springs is located at Flerio, after the village of Mylοι and a few meters before the place where the Kouros of Melanes is exposed.
History:
The Sanctuary of the Springs, at Flerio, Naxos, is the place of worship of the goddess of euphoria and the heroes named Othos and Ephalates, who with their power moved the marble volumes of the region.
His greatest prosperity was in the 7th and 6th centuries. B.C.
The first part of the sanctuary was created in the 8th century. BC and the 7th century. a second building next to the old, with many outdoor spaces was erected. These were places of worship and sacrifice.
There were other changes in the course of the years, with the construction of more buildings and the formation of the open air.
According to the findings of the excavations, it is estimated by the archaeologists that there was a workshop for the construction of Cycladic figurines and vases.
The foundations of temples and buildings revealed how architecture was and how worship was at that time.
