Σκαδό

Skado is 34 km northeast of Naxos Town.

It is a village “drowned” in the green. Its traditional houses sprout through the dense vegetation and you seem to be “hidden” within the unique natural landscape.

History and Monuments:

In rich vegetation it is said that it owes its name because it is considered to have got it from the word “shady(skia)” because of the shade of its trees.

In the village with its characteristic architecture is worth seeing the historical church of the Parthena ( virgin) Mary.

The two olive presses in the center of the village and the folklore collection of Mariigos Pitalas are also of great interest.

How will you go:

By private car you can reach the motorcycle following the following route: Chora – Agios Thaleleos – Kourounohori – Melanes – Kinidaros – Sifones – Keramoti – Koronos – Skado
