On-site Archaeological Museum

At the port of Chora, in the area in front of the Metropolis, is located the On -Site Archaeological Museum with significant exhibits from the settlement of Grotta.

Grotta is an area stretching right from the palace island of Portara.

There is the ancient Naxos and one of the most important Mycenaean metropolis of Greece.

Your tour through the On-Site Archaeological Museum will be like a journey in time from 1300 BC to 700 BC from Mycenaean to Geometric period.

Among the findings of the excavation that began in 1980, it is a part of the city wall from the Mycenaean period, small pottery workshops, tools and pottery furnaces. Among the findings of the Geometric period, the auction bank with the vases around her impresses.

The on-site Archaeological Museum can be visited daily from 08:30 to 15:00, except on Mondays.
